Supply:

The total global production of beef is estimated at 59,244 thousand MT. The largest producers of beef are: 

  • The U.S. at an estimated  12,017 thousand MT
  • Brazil at 10,450 thousand MT 
  • China at 7,500 thousand MT
  • the European Union at 6,700 thousand MT
  • India at 4425 thousand MT
  • Argentina at 3,050 thousand MT

Demand:

Total global consumption for beef is estimated at 56,846 thousand MT. The United States is the world’s largest consumer of Beef with an estimated usage of 12,185 thousand MT. The second largest consumer is China at 10,330 thousand MT, followed by Brazil at 7,547 thousand MT, India at 2,950 thousand MT, and Argentina at 2,305 thousand MT.

Ending Stocks:

Total global cattle stocks are estimated at 941,523 thousand head. The largest beginning stocks of cattle are in India with an estimated amount of 307,550 thousand head, followed by Brazil at 194,365 thousand head, China at 101,200 thousand head, the U.S. at 89,400 thousand head, and the European Union at 74,460 thousand head.
