This Midwestern background fuels his passion for commodity markets, giving him a unique understanding of the region’s economic and agricultural landscape. He places strong emphasis on analyzing market dynamics through both fundamental and technical approaches to commodity trading.

Matthew hails from a family farm in NW Iowa, where his deep-rooted love for agriculture took shape—backgrounding feeder cattle, riding on a 4020 fender, and showing cattle.
After earning his degree from SDSU, where he met his wife Becca, Matt launched his career as a beef nutritionist at ADM for two years before joining Cargill in Parker, SD, as a farm marketer. There, he collaborated with exceptional mentors and growers, cultivating a strong passion for marketing and risk management while sharpening his skills in overseeing farmers’ P&L and risk.
Back in NW Iowa, Matt spent seven years with AgPartners (a Cargill joint venture), where he dedicated himself to helping family farms manage risk through tailored contracts and coaching based on their break-evens and risk tolerance. Now a Series 3 licensed broker with Paradigm Futures, Matt is eager to apply his grain marketing expertise to support both existing and new accounts.
Outside of work, he contributes to the family farm and their small commercial cow herd alongside Becca, their three children—Kathren (7 months), Emmett (5), Kal (3)—and their dog Herc, with his boys sharing his enthusiasm for livestock and farm life, especially during calving season.
Scott Hughes is a dedicated commodities broker whose passion for agriculture has fueled an impressive 26-year career, with 23 of those years immersed in the grain industry.
A proud South Dakota State University (SDSU) graduate, he is Series 3 and 30 licensed. Scott kicked off his professional journey in agronomy, honing his expertise before joining Cargill in the early 2000s. Over the next 18 years, he thrived in diverse roles, from buying grain across South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska to forging lasting connections with customers. Known for his integrity and commitment, he earned not just their business but their trust.
Stepping into a marketing manager role in his later years at Cargill, Scott loved empowering clients with tailored sales advice. Today, he runs his own consulting business, bringing that same enthusiasm to helping producers navigate cash sales, craft break-evens and balance sheets, and manage contracts with confidence.
When he’s not working, Scott’s heart is with his family or the great outdoors. You’ll often find him cheering on his kids, Kaden and Daylee, at their sporting events alongside his wife, Sheena—moments he cherishes as much as a well-negotiated deal.
