📋 USDA Crop Progress – Week of August 4, 2025
This week’s USDA Crop Progress Report highlights steady development across the Corn Belt, though regional stress remains a factor. The update includes official USDA data across both the 18- and 6-state regions.
🌽 Corn Progress & Conditions
Corn development continues to move forward. Silking reached 88% across the key 18-state region, and 42% of corn has entered the dough stage. Early dent stage is now visible in 6% of the crop.
73% of the corn crop is rated Good to Excellent, which is unchanged from last week. However, 7% of corn is rated Poor to Very Poor, primarily due to lingering heat and dryness in Missouri and Kansas.
🌱 Soybean Progress & Conditions
85% of soybeans are blooming, while 58% are setting pods. Despite this forward movement, progress continues to lag behind both last year and the 5-year average.
69% of soybeans are rated Good to Excellent, holding steady from last week. In contrast, 8% fall into the Poor to Very Poor category, with southern states like Missouri and Kansas driving that weakness.
🌾 Spring Wheat Heading & Conditions
Spring wheat is now 94% headed across the monitored 6-state region. However, crop condition remains under pressure. Only 48% is rated Good to Excellent, while 8% is Poor to Very Poor.
Persistent heat and dryness in the Northern Plains—especially in North Dakota and Montana—have weighed heavily on the condition rating. As reproductive stages advance, yield risk remains elevated in these stressed areas.
