Updated Monthly JOLTS chart 1/4/23

The Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for the month showed available positions at 10.46 million. The JOLTS survey is closely watched by Federal Reserve officials for signs of labor market slack. The ISM Manufacturing Index for December came in at 48.4%. roughly in line with estimates from Dow Jones. Markets will also pay attention to the upcoming Labor Department’s nonfarm payrolls report, which is predicted to show an increase.
